Notice of Plan to Dissolve & Close
Legal Name: Launching Point
Alternate: Love More Judge Less
On behalf of Love More Judge Less, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, I am announcing the decision to permanently close after 24 years of service to the community.
The decision to close, to dissolve Love More Judge Less was made following a careful evaluation of the mission, financial sustainability, and long-term impact goals. In short, it was determined that we have fulfilled our goals and mission.
As founder, I am deeply grateful for the unconditional support over the years from friends and family. I'm as equally thankful for the unwavering support & dedication of our donors and supporters, both past and present. Thank you to the volunteer crew, and much thanks to every person that attended a support group, recovery program, came out to a special event a hangout, or just talk. It is because of all of you who have made the work for the last 24 years unforgettable.
After creating a self-help website, End All The Pain in August 2001, that led to me helping teens and young adults at an outpatient program. When staff informed me that there weren't any support groups or resources in the northeast, I was motivated to offer the first self-harm support group in NJ, which began in November of 2005. To make more of an impact, a year later in October of 2006, I established Launching Point, the non-profit that is now known as Love More Judge Less.
When we officially began as Launching Point in 2006, we were established as a self-injury support & resource center. The tagline was "taking off to higher heights, aiming toward a healthy life". When we moved to the storefront in February of 2021, I realized that we had accomplished that, however I continued to focus on the mission.
I focussed on the support groups, being a resource center, and getting items in the shop to serve as an ongoing fundraiser. When things would get rough financially, I would come up with creative ways to raise funds. It was a dream to have a storefront; to be visible for our cause, and also to display our merchandise.
In 8/2024, I had an idea to repurpose & design flannels, denim jackets, and hoodies. My thought was that it would be an additional way to raise funds to pay the expenses, with the intention to use this line of clothing as an ongoing yet temporary fundraiser. I named the clothing line Imperfect Perfections and created specific designs solely for Love More Judge Lesswith a label on the collar of each shirt stating "Designed exclusively for Love More Judge Less by Imperfect Perfections". After festival season of 2024 was over, I realized that Love More Judge Less evolved in such a way that has shifted from our mission and remembered what I felt when we moved into the storefront in 2021.
I knew it was time to say farewell to this amazing non-profit that I built from the ground up. But, but...how do you do that? How do you say goodbye to something that brought change, adventure, connection, life-changing support groups and recovery programs? By having the wisdom in knowing when an organization has run its course and it's time to move on; organizations are not meant to last forever, some are raised up for a time/season and must know when that season ends. With that said, I know the season, an incredible 24 years has come to an end.
With that knowledge, in January of 2025, I officially created Imperfect Perfections as my new business venture that I'm ecstatic about. Once the dissolution of the non-profit is complete, I will move forward with my new business.
As the dissolution process begins, Love More Judge Less will continue to be open and operate business as usual. I will be working diligently to settle with creditors, finance, file all necessary paperwork, and distribute assets.
Please know that all funds received from fundraising and merchandise sales (in store & festivals) will all go directly to paying off all debt and final bills at Love More Judge Less.
Once all the legal requirements to dissolve are completed, I will file a Certificate of Dissolution to formally terminate the existence of this one-of-a-kind non-profit.
After the certificate is received, I will announce dissolution with a formal statement and press release; this will take approximately 2-3 months. We will also have a time to reflect and celebrate with a farewell celebration at a venue which will also be announced when the dissolution is finalized.
It is with deep appreciation and love for all people that I can say it has been an honor, serving the community, an absolute life-changing experience and I know that even greater things are ahead.
Cheers,
Vicki
