"I had recently moved to Boonton, and liked to jog down Main Street, through Grace Lord Park several times a week. While I jogged, I passed Love More Judge Less (LMJL) and had seen Vicki sitting outside sometimes and waved or smiled as I passed. One day I stopped by to ask her what LMJL was all about. I had never heard about self-harm and didn’t understand how pervasive it is. She was very kind and offered me a cup of coffee, we chatted and became friends. One time I was in the store and a mother came in with her young daughter. She told her daughter to look around the store and pick something out. Vicki and the woman started to talk and she broke down and started sobbing. She said "My daughter is hurting herself and I don’t know what to do". Vicki sat down with her and reassured her there were resources available to help her daughter and she provided all the information. Vicki even offered to come with them if they were nervous or didn’t know what to say to the various agencies about seeking assistance. The woman was so grateful. It was at that moment I knew I had to get involved."
